Croatian Botanical Society organizes and invites you to participate in the 4th Croatian Botanical Symposium with international participation (4HBoS 2013), which will be held from September 27 - 29 2013 in Split (Central Dalmatia), at the campus of University of Split Faculty of Science.
Importance of 4th Croatian Botanical Symposium with international participation is to promote cooperation and exchange of scientific and technical knowledge and experience between Croatian botanists and colleagues from other countries.
The main objectives are the promotion of a national survey of the flora and vegetation and publishing, international cooperation, development of multi-disciplinary collaboration with experts from related fields as well as the education of future botanists.
Split is situated on the Adriatic coast in Dalmatia on Split peninsula. It is the largest city in Dalmatia, and second largest in Croatia. Split metropolitan area has more than 220,000 inhabitants, and according to the number of passengers is the second largest port in Croatia, and the third in the Mediterranean. It is the administrative center of Split-Dalmatia County.
In the north and north-east, Split is surrounded by the mountain Mosor, in the north-west the hill Kozjak, and Perun hill from the east. To the west, the old town is situated at the foot of Marjan hill. Split peninsula is surrounded by the islands of Brač, Hvar, Šolta and Čiovo.
The city center of Split is the old Diocletian's palace from the 4th century AD (under UNESCO’s protection since 1979), which makes it a unique example in the world.
